Show n’ Sale 2025!!

In June, we had our annual Show n Sale. As always, it was well attended and many plants found new forever homes. Plants for sale were found in one section with another dedicated to show off members’ prized plants.
This year, we brought back our “Best In Show” competition where members picked their best plant to display and attendees were encouraged to vote for their favourite. Surprisingly, the result was a tie!! Congrats to Morgan for his Euphorbia and Maria for her Mother of Thousands.
Within our show section, there was also a kids corner where mini plant lovers were shown how to plant cutoffs and propagated specimens. Once the gardeners were happy with their new plant friend, they were welcomed to take their new buddy home (for free, of course, children have no money). It was clear many adults were jealous and so more plants were adopted off the sale floor.
Another popular event of the Show n Sale was our hourly raffle draws where attendees were given an opportunity to win a prickly prize! Cactus shaped nightlights, ice packs, and fairy lights were some of the non-living prizes. But various living prizes, donated by members, were always first to go!
Finally, the Show n Sale sprouted a number of new members who joined the Desert Plant Society of Vancouver right on the spot! We’re excited to get to know you and welcome you into our community. Hopefully you’ll have a plant for sale or on show in the future.
