The first meeting of the fall went off well. There were a handful of members who showed up which made for a lively amount of raffle winners. Happy to see a few new members joining the club, too! The potluck food brought by members was delicious, especially Dan’s ceviche.
The highlight of the evening was Dirk’s presentation on was very informative. He explained how to pollinate flowers and the man-made tools to use in place of waiting for insects to come. As some plants will shoot out their seeds when ready, Dirk also touched upon the ways to catch the seeds for germination. Speaking of, the next step that was shown to club members was how to plant your new seeds. Dirk mixed a lovely batch of soil with gravel, grit, and perlite/pumice. Present club members were able to grab a handful (well, a small envelope amount) of seeds and mixed soil to take home and try growing their own!!
